Happy New Year!
Our summer drabble contest was a huge success. Now it's winter and many of us are shivering through the coldest temperatures in years. How about some new Zutara drabbles to warm us up? This time the contest features a special wintry twist.
The RULES:
1. 100 words. No more. No less. No exceptions. Your drabble must include the word winter. All forms of the word (winters, winterly, etc.) are acceptable; you may use it as a noun, verb, adjective--whatever your fancy. (So come up with ninety-nine more words and you're set!)
2. Any theme and all ratings and genres are welcome: romance, friendship, comedy, drama, horror, AU, etc.
3. You may enter ONE drabble in the contest.
4. A separate entry post will appear on Sunday, January 10th, where you may submit your drabbles as comments. The entry post will stay open through midnight Wednesday, January 13th. All drabbles must be entered by Midnight EST on Wednesday night.
CONTEST ENTRIES MAY ONLY BE ENTERED ON THE OFFICIAL ENTRY POST (we don’t want to flood people’s friends-lists). Please do not enter your drabbles here.
5. Voting will commence on Thursday, January 14th.
6. Winners and participants will receive a spiffy banner, bragging rights, and a glowing sense of self-satisfaction.
Feel free to publicize this contest in other journals and ask any questions you have below. Good luck and Happy Writing!
Coming up... AMV contest in February!

Title: Our Mothers' NamesRating: K+ (I think. Should I have rated it T?) Summary: There are only two people who can tell you the truth about yourself: an enemy who has lost his temper and a friend who loves you dearly. A follow-up to Her Name. Still canon-compliant, because I think things were too easily solved during Southern Raiders. Something else had to have happened for Katara to forgive Zuko so easily. Mostly it's the two of them talking about things that they should have talked about on screen, some good-old fashioned brawling, and a little growing up on both their parts. Katara/Zuko friendship, implied attraction. Why? Because you can't go straight from enemies to lovers. Somewhere in between, you have to learn how to be friends. Excerpt:Despite herself, Katara choked back a laugh. "I see where Azula gets it from. But," she continued, still determined to speak her piece, "It's not an excuse for what you did. People have choices. They might have good motivations at the time, but that doesn't mean that they're not wrong. You can't turn away from doing the right thing just because it's hard." "No. It's not an excuse. But I hope it helps you understand why I've done the things I've done." There was a note of pleading to his voice now. "I think about it every day. I wish so, so much that I could go back and fix things. Save Aang. Save my uncle. Save you." She raised an eyebrow. "Save me from what?" He shrugged, and took the hand that he'd pressed to his face into both of his. "I don't know. I sort of feel like I should have saved you, somehow." *hides* Let me know if you like it. Cel: thank you for the awesome incentive. Hope you can find something in this little story that you might like to draw. Tags: -fan: fiction, activity: cel's art incentive
